warew is pleased to host the Japanese artist Tomoko Nagao in its Flagship Store in Viale Premuda 1 in Milan for an exclusive event.
On April 8, 2025 , from 6:00 pm, during Milan Design Week, the artist will exhibit her new collection of ANGEL Cherubini sculptures in the unique location of the warew Flagship Store , previewed to warew's VIP customers.
The figure of the cherub appears in the Christian tradition as a messenger of love, a symbol of affection and innocence, but also a figure placed to protect churches and places of worship. The cherub is a link between the human and the divine, representing the union of the sacred and the profane, a bearer of blessing.
Tomoko Nagao, born in Nagoya, lives and works in Milan and combines Neo-pop and Superflat languages. Her art blends Japanese Anime tradition with Western myths, reinterpreting female figures and myths of beauty through kawaii aesthetics. Her works explore the female condition, freeing icons from male stereotypes and giving voice to women's fragility and strength, with a particular focus on contemporary Japanese culture.
